CyberSecurity

This module teaches cybersecurity through a game-based approach. Players enter an escape room where they learn to protect a network by solving puzzles related to cybersecurity threats. Each stage of the game builds on their knowledge and skills, ending with them securing a network from a cyber attack.

Problem

Many people find traditional cybersecurity courses unengaging and overly technical, making them unappealing and difficult to follow. This often leads to a lack of interest in learning essential cybersecurity measures, leaving individuals vulnerable to common cyber threats such as phishing and malware.

Solution

The cybersecurity escape room module offers an exciting, game-based way for everyone to learn about cyber threats and how to counter them. Participants will tackle interactive puzzles that simulate real cybersecurity challenges and learn vital skills to detect and defend against cyber attacks in an engaging setting.

Design The Solution

Text-based Storyboard

I designed each stage of our cybersecurity-themed e-learning module to simulate critical security challenges that employees encounter, such as detecting phishing attempts, configuring firewalls, and responding to network breaches. I carefully constructed scenarios that require learners to apply their knowledge in a controlled environment, allowing them to see the immediate impact of their decisions on system security.

Decision points were carefully scripted to ensure learners could see the immediate and long-term impacts of their actions, reinforcing the importance of vigilant cybersecurity practices in real-time.

Style Guide

The style guide focuses on clear, readable fonts, bright on dark color schemes that reflect cybersecurity themes, and clean style textboxes and intuitive icons for easy navigation.

Mood Board

The mood board for this project was inspired by cyberpunk style, featuring dark tones with bright accent color palette. The technology themes simulate our tech filled world.

Interactive prototype

I adopted an iterative approach to design and refinement.

Each feature was carefully scripted to simulate real-world cybersecurity tasks, from identifying breaches to implementing security measures.

The prototype underwent multiple rounds of user testing, where feedback from a diverse learners helped refine the interactions and educational content.

Testimonials

"As an IT professional, the importance of cybersecurity cannot be overstated—especially the role of the "human firewall." This training module masterfully bridges the gap between understanding cybersecurity risks and actively defending against them. By combining gamification with real-world examples, it delivers an engaging and impactful experience for both technical and non-technical users. Whether you're securing a small business or a large enterprise, this module equips users with not just the knowledge but the motivation to protect what matters. Highly recommended!"
